The chargers
Which EV chargers suit Dallas parking lots?
About 29% of Dallas's public ports are DC fast, 233 of 800 in AFDC data pulled Oct 14, 2026, so Level 2 for parked hours is where most private lots still have room to add.
Office garages in Uptown and the Arts District, Medical District hospitals and apartment complexes are Level 2 sites. Fast charging serves fleets: the warehouse belt toward the Inland Port, rideshare staging near Love Field and retail centers along the freeways.
The general Dallas EV charging station installation guide explains the service; this page carries the depot detail, the city data and the ERCOT utility setup.
Uptown and downtown office garages, apartments around Deep Ellum and the medical district suit Level 2. Logistics yards along I-35E and I-20 and rideshare near Love Field fit fast charging.
The depot
What does a Dallas robotaxi charging depot need?
Three operators run in Dallas as of Oct 14, 2026: Waymo, Tesla Robotaxi and Avride on Uber.
Three fleets mean three sets of depot needs: high-power chargers, staging, cleaning, rider curbs and secure entry. Dallas Love Field normals show 108 days a year at 90°F or hotter, so shaded charging rows and heat-rated equipment are standard in our layouts.
Large flat lots near the Stemmons and LBJ corridors are the most practical depot sites. Owners can bring a utility capacity request forward before signing a fleet lease. Read our guides to autonomous vehicle parking, future-proof parking design and the EV and AV deployment guide. See also robotaxi depot design in Dallas.
The network
How many public EV chargers does Dallas have?
The AFDC listed 262 public stations in Dallas on Oct 14, 2026, holding 567 Level 2 and 233 DC fast ports.
Dallas has a high share of fast ports, about two for every five Level 2, but a modest Level 2 count for a city of 1.3 million. That gap shows up at apartments and offices, where cars sit long enough for Level 2.
For the trend line, find Dallas in the EV charging ports database.
The power
Which utility serves Dallas chargers, and what does it offer?
Oncor owns the wires in Dallas, while retail electric providers sell the power; Oncor's EVolution program offers fleet education, not rebates.
In the ERCOT market, the owner picks a retail provider and plan, and Oncor handles the connection. That split means two conversations: the capacity and service request with Oncor, and the energy rate with the retailer, which can include time-of-use pricing for overnight fleet charging.
We file the Oncor request before design, because a new transformer sets the schedule.
The code
Which permits and codes apply to EV chargers in Dallas?
Dallas Development Services' commercial quick guide sets a 15-day review; electricians wire to NEC Article 625, and the U.S. Access Board explains what makes a charging stall accessible.
The May 2025 parking reform waived minimums for most uses, keeping them for large restaurants, bars and a few others. We check the use before converting stalls.
Accessible charging goes in first: level pad, aisle and reachable controls.
The incentives
What EV charging incentives are open to Dallas sites?
No Oncor rebate is open, so Dallas projects lean on state programs listed by the AFDC and on retail time-of-use plans.
Federal 30C is off the table for new work: the Form 8911 instructions cut it off for property placed in service after June 30, 2026.
With three robotaxi fleets operating, fleet leases may do more for a Dallas lot's numbers than any incentive.
The budget
What does EV charger installation cost in Dallas, and how long does it take?
In Dallas, twelve Level 2 ports run about $49,500 to $111,300 installed and four DC fast ports about $206,000 to $619,000, by our estimate.
The Dallas–Fort Worth BEA index is 103.1, a little above the national average. We scale national per-port costs and AFDC's installation guidance to it; expansive clay soils can add base work under new pads.
Once the permit issues, we plan 8–16 weeks for Level 2 on an existing panel and 26–52 weeks for fast charging that needs new service (Wins estimates).
At the BEA index of 103.1, one Level 2 port runs about $4,125 to $9,275 installed and one fast port about $51,500 to $154,750, by our estimate. North Texas clay swells and shrinks, so pads need careful compaction and sometimes extra depth.

A Wins Parking estimate, not a quote: Level 2 at $4,000–$9,000 installed per port (U.S. average), scaled by Dallas's BEA cost index of 103.1. Trenching distance, panel and transformer upgrades and utility lead time move it most. The federal 30C credit cannot be claimed for chargers placed in service after June 30, 2026.
The day to day
How are Dallas chargers run day to day?
In Dallas, the charging runs through our parking system, so one dashboard covers pricing, idle fees, port health, enforcement and the monthly owner report.
Pricing can follow the retail plan's off-peak hours. Heat-rated units and scheduled inspections limit summer downtime, and owners get energy, uptime, revenue and citation totals each month.
More on how this works: EV charging parking management, and our Dallas parking management page.
Love Field's normals show 108 days a year at 90°F or hotter, so shade over charging rows and heat-rated cables extend equipment life. Ice is rare but does happen, so pedestals get bollards and clear approaches.
The neighbors
How does Dallas compare with nearby metros for EV charging?
Dallas has 233 fast ports to Austin's 309, about 182 miles south, per AFDC data pulled Oct 14, 2026.
Dallas and Houston share the ERCOT setup with wires companies and retail providers; Austin buys from its city utility, and Oklahoma City and Tulsa sit outside ERCOT.
