The chargers
What EV chargers does Wins install for Baton Rouge parking lots?
Level 2 at 2.9 to 19.2 kW for cars parked for hours, and DC fast charging up to 500 kW for 100 to 200+ miles in roughly 30 minutes, as the Department of Energy defines them.
Level 2 fits state and private office lots downtown, apartments near LSU and along the Bluebonnet corridor, hospital staff parking and hotels. Fast charging fits retail on Siegen Lane and College Drive, stops near the I-10 and I-12 split, and the service fleets that support the plants north of the city.
We design, permit, build and run the chargers, and their data lands in the owner's parking report.
The depot
What does a robotaxi charging depot in Baton Rouge need?
Enough fast-charging power to cover each vehicle's shift, utility capacity reserved in writing, room to queue, wash and inspect cars, a rider pickup area, controlled entry and cameras. As of Oct 13, 2026, no company had named Baton Rouge for robotaxi service.
New Orleans, about 76 miles east, is the nearest city with a robotaxi announcement: Waymo said in November 2025 that it would bring service there. That is context only. No company has named Baton Rouge, and Wins has no robotaxi work in Louisiana.
An owner rebuilding a lot can keep a depot possible with electrical room for fast chargers, a queue that won't back onto the street during a game, a covered cleaning bay and a pickup curb away from the chargers. See our autonomous vehicle parking page, the future-proof parking lot guide and the EV and AV deployment guide.
The network
How many public EV charging ports does Baton Rouge have?
108 Level 2 and 51 DC fast ports at 42 public stations with Baton Rouge addresses, per Department of Energy data pulled Oct 13, 2026.
That fast-charging count is more than four times New Orleans's 12, helped by sites along I-10 and I-12. Level 2 is close to New Orleans's total. Nearby Gonzales lists 18 fast ports and Zachary two.
Our EV charging ports database follows the count monthly.
The power
Which utility serves Baton Rouge chargers, and what programs does it run?
Entergy Louisiana, for most Baton Rouge addresses. Its eTech program rebates a fast port above 50 kW at $1,500, a smaller one under 50 kW at $750, and an ENERGY STAR Level 2 port at $250.
Some parts of the parish are served by other providers, so we confirm the utility for the exact address first. Entergy says eTech checks arrive about four to six weeks after approval.
The utility also reviews transformer capacity for any large load. We start that request early because it can set the opening date.
The code
Which permits and codes apply to EV charging stations in Baton Rouge?
An electrical permit from the Permits and Inspections Division, state licensing for electrical work over $10,000 through the Licensing Board for Contractors, NEC Article 625 and the U.S. Access Board's accessible charging guidance.
Taking away required stalls or pouring a transformer pad can send a project back to planning staff. Permits and Inspections does not publish how long electrical review takes, so we schedule three to six weeks, which is our own estimate.
The accessible stall is drawn before the others, with a flat path to the charger, a screen and connector a seated driver can reach, and clear space beside the car for a wheelchair lift.
The incentives
Which EV charging incentives are open in Louisiana?
Entergy eTech rebates for Entergy Louisiana customers and LADOTD's NEVI program for corridor fast charging. The federal 30C credit cannot be claimed for charging property placed in service after June 30, 2026 (IRS, Instructions for Form 8911).
Louisiana has about $73.4 million in NEVI funds for interstate fast charging, and both I-10 and I-12 pass through Baton Rouge. The IRS instructions leave new chargers outside 30C.
Ten Level 2 ports would bring back $2,500 from Entergy; two 150 kW fast ports would bring $3,000. Beyond that, the return comes from what drivers pay to charge and what tenants will pay for access, which our written estimate lays out.
The budget
What does an EV charger installation cost in Baton Rouge, and how long does it take?
Our working figures put eight Level 2 ports at about $29,100 to $65,400 installed in Baton Rouge, and three DC fast ports about $136,000 to $409,000, before eTech.
Industrial and fleet sites often already have heavy electrical service, which can make fast charging cheaper than at an office lot. Elsewhere, trench length and new service drive cost.
Timeline, also our estimate: 8–16 weeks for Level 2 on an existing panel, 26–52 weeks for fast charging on new service. Figures scale national per-port costs and AFDC's installation guidance by the metro's BEA index of 90.8. Surface work fits the 8-month warm season.

A Wins Parking estimate, not a quote: Level 2 at $4,000–$9,000 installed per port (U.S. average), scaled by Baton Rouge's BEA cost index of 90.8. Trenching distance, panel and transformer upgrades and utility lead time move it most. The federal 30C credit cannot be claimed for chargers placed in service after June 30, 2026.
The day to day
How are Baton Rouge chargers run day to day?
From the same system as the gates. Wins prices each kilowatt-hour or hour, charges drivers who stay plugged in after a full battery, watches uptime at all hours, tickets gas cars parked at chargers and puts both kinds of income on one statement.
At a downtown state-office lot, idle fees keep ports turning over through the workday. At a fleet yard, we schedule charging around shifts and energy prices. Fault alerts come to us, and a technician resets or repairs the unit. Owners get monthly figures on income, energy, uptime and citations.
That is our EV charging parking management service, combined with parking management in Baton Rouge when we run the full lot.
The neighbors
How does Baton Rouge compare with nearby cities for EV charging?
Baton Rouge's 51 fast ports lead the capital region and top Lafayette's 41; its 108 Level 2 ports trail only New Orleans nearby, per AFDC data pulled Oct 13, 2026.
Lafayette runs its own municipal utility, New Orleans has Entergy New Orleans's richer rebate, and the suburban parishes vary by address. We confirm the utility before quoting any incentive.

FAQ
Baton Rouge EV and robotaxi charging: frequently asked questions
Wins Parking does. Wins handles design, the City-Parish permit, installation and daily operation of Level 2 charging at Baton Rouge apartment complexes, and files the Entergy paperwork when the property is on Entergy Louisiana service. We estimate a Level 2 port at $4,000–$9,000 installed at U.S. average prices.
Wins Parking plans and builds depot-ready lots with high-power charging, stacking lanes, cleaning bays, pickup zones and gated access. No robotaxi operator had announced Baton Rouge service as of October 2026, and Wins has no robotaxi client in Louisiana.
108 Level 2 and 51 DC fast ports at 42 public stations, per Department of Energy data pulled Oct 13, 2026.
Yes, if Entergy serves the address. The eTech program sends a check four to six weeks after approval: $1,500 for each DC fast port above 50 kW, $750 below 50 kW, and $250 for each ENERGY STAR Level 2 port.
Possibly, if it sits on a designated corridor such as I-10 or I-12. LADOTD administers about $73.4 million in NEVI funds, which go to highway fast-charging sites, not ordinary office or apartment lots.
Not for new chargers. The 30C credit cannot be claimed for charging property placed in service after June 30, 2026 (IRS, Instructions for Form 8911).
An electrical permit from the City-Parish Permits and Inspections Division, state licensing for electrical work over $10,000, NEC Article 625 compliance and accessible design per U.S. Access Board guidance.
By our estimate, 8–16 weeks for Level 2 on an existing panel and 26–52 weeks for DC fast charging that needs new utility service.
