EV AND ROBOTAXI CHARGING · GULFPORT, MS
EV Charger and Robotaxi Charging Installation in Gulfport, MS
Wins Parking designs, permits, installs and runs EV chargers and fleet charging depots for Gulfport lots. The Department of Energy counts just 19 public Level 2 and 16 DC fast ports in the city. Mississippi Power serves the coast, and New Orleans, about 58 miles west, is the nearest city where a robotaxi company has announced service.

The chargers
What EV chargers does Wins install for Gulfport parking lots?
Two kinds, as the Department of Energy defines them: Level 2 at 2.9 to 19.2 kW for stays of several hours, and DC fast up to 500 kW, which can add 100 to 200+ miles in about half an hour.
Visitors are Gulfport's natural charging customers. Drivers from New Orleans, Mobile and farther away stay at beachfront hotels or spend an evening at a casino or restaurant, and Level 2 fits those stops. Apartments, the hospitals and port employers fit as well. Fast charging suits fleets, rental cars and retail near the I-10 and U.S. 49 interchange.
Equipment on the coast needs enclosures rated for salt air and mounting that can stand up to storm winds. We design, permit, build and operate, and charging shows up in the same report as parking.
The depot
What does a robotaxi charging depot in Gulfport need?
Fast charging matched to fleet mileage, a Mississippi Power capacity plan, room to queue off U.S. 90 or U.S. 49, cleaning bays, a pickup curb, gated access and cameras, all built above likely storm-surge levels. No operator had named Gulfport as of Oct 13, 2026.
Waymo announced New Orleans in November 2025, and Fox 8 reported it began testing with drivers in Orleans and Jefferson parishes in July 2026. New Orleans is about 58 miles from Gulfport. That is context, not a plan for the coast: no company has announced Gulfport, and Wins has no relationship with any robotaxi operator.
For an owner rebuilding a coastal lot, keeping a depot possible means electrical capacity for fast chargers, raised equipment pads, a covered cleaning bay and a queue that won't back onto the highway. Our autonomous vehicle parking page, the future-proof parking lot guide and the EV and AV deployment guide explain each part.
The network
How many public EV charging ports does Gulfport have?
19 Level 2 and 16 DC fast ports at 10 public stations with Gulfport addresses, per Department of Energy data pulled Oct 13, 2026.
Ten stations is a thin network for a tourist city. Biloxi lists 16 Level 2 ports but no fast ports, while Pass Christian, on I-10, lists 24 fast ports. A visitor charging overnight at a Gulfport hotel has few choices.
The count changes monthly; our EV charging ports database tracks it from the same federal source.
The power
Which utility serves Gulfport chargers, and what programs does it run?
Mississippi Power serves Gulfport. The Department of Energy's AFDC database lists a Mississippi Power rebate toward non-residential Level 2 chargers; we could not confirm the current amount, so we check it for each project.
Because the rebate amount is not published in a form we could verify, we leave it out of estimates until the utility confirms it in writing for a specific site.
Mississippi Power also has to confirm that local transformers can carry the load. On the coast, we ask about the utility's storm-hardening plans for the site too, since a depot or hotel charger bank is only useful if power comes back quickly after a storm.
The code
Which permits and codes apply to EV charging stations in Gulfport?
An electrical permit from Gulfport's Building Code Services, a contractor with an electrical classification from the State Board of Contractors, NEC Article 625 and the U.S. Access Board's accessible charging guidance.
Equipment near the beach also needs to meet wind and flood rules where they apply. The city publishes no electrical review time; three to six weeks is our planning estimate.
The accessible charger is placed first, on a level route with controls and cord within reach and room for a lift.
The incentives
Which EV charging incentives are open in Mississippi?
A Mississippi Power Level 2 rebate listed by AFDC (amount not confirmed) and MDOT's EV charging infrastructure program for corridor fast charging. The federal 30C credit cannot be claimed for charging property placed in service after June 30, 2026 (IRS, Instructions for Form 8911).
MDOT restarted its program in August 2025, aimed at fast charging along designated corridors; I-10 runs through Gulfport's north side. Typical hotel and restaurant chargers fall outside it. The IRS instructions leave new chargers outside 30C.
For most coastal owners, the case rests on guests and tenants who choose a place to stay or eat because they can charge there.
The budget
What does an EV charger installation cost in Gulfport, and how long does it take?
Six Level 2 ports would run about $21,600 to $48,600 installed in Gulfport and two DC fast ports about $90,000 to $270,000, a Wins Parking estimate.
Coastal sites can add cost for corrosion-resistant enclosures, raised pads and wind-rated mounting. Beyond that, trench length and new utility service drive the price.
Our timeline estimate is 8–16 weeks for Level 2 on an existing panel and 26–52 weeks for fast charging on new service. Figures scale national per-port costs and AFDC's installation guidance by the metro's BEA index of 90.0. Surface work fits the 9-month season, outside peak storm weeks.

A Wins Parking estimate, not a quote: Level 2 at $4,000–$9,000 installed per port (U.S. average), scaled by Gulfport's BEA cost index of 90.0. Trenching distance, panel and transformer upgrades and utility lead time move it most. The federal 30C credit cannot be claimed for chargers placed in service after June 30, 2026.
The day to day
How are Gulfport chargers run day to day?
As part of the parking operation: Wins sets the charging price, applies idle fees once a car is full, monitors each port at all hours, keeps EV stalls clear with plate cameras and bills charging and parking together.
At a beachfront hotel, guests charge overnight, and idle fees in the morning free ports for day visitors. Before a named storm, we can shut chargers down remotely and bring them back once power and the site are safe. Fault alerts reach our desk, and a technician resets or repairs the unit.
That is our EV charging parking management service, combined with parking management in Gulfport when we run the full lot.
The neighbors
How does Gulfport compare with nearby cities for EV charging?
Gulfport's 19 Level 2 and 16 fast ports trail Pass Christian's 24 fast ports and Hattiesburg's 21 Level 2 and 19 fast; New Orleans has 114 Level 2, per AFDC data pulled Oct 13, 2026.
Across the coast, provider territories can change from one address to the next, and New Orleans has its own Entergy rebates. We confirm the utility before quoting any incentive.

FAQ
Gulfport EV and robotaxi charging: frequently asked questions
Wins Parking does. We plan, permit, install and operate Level 2 chargers for Gulfport apartment lots, with enclosures suited to salt air. We estimate a Level 2 port at $4,000–$9,000 installed at U.S. average prices.
Wins Parking plans and builds depot-ready lots with high-power charging, stacking lanes, cleaning bays, pickup zones and gated access. No robotaxi operator had announced Gulfport service as of October 2026, and Wins has no robotaxi client in Mississippi.
19 Level 2 and 16 DC fast ports at 10 public stations, per Department of Energy data pulled Oct 13, 2026.
The Department of Energy's AFDC database lists a Mississippi Power rebate for non-residential Level 2 chargers. We could not confirm the current amount and verify it with the utility for each project.
MDOT restarted its EV charging infrastructure program in August 2025 for fast charging along designated corridors such as I-10. It does not fund typical hotel or restaurant chargers.
Not for new chargers. The 30C credit cannot be claimed for charging property placed in service after June 30, 2026 (IRS, Instructions for Form 8911).
An electrical permit from Building Code Services, a contractor with an electrical classification from the State Board of Contractors, NEC Article 625 compliance and accessible design per U.S. Access Board guidance.
By our estimate, 8–16 weeks for Level 2 on an existing panel and 26–52 weeks for DC fast charging that needs new utility service.
