EV AND ROBOTAXI CHARGING · JACKSON, MS
EV Charger and Robotaxi Charging Installation in Jackson, MS
Wins Parking designs, permits, installs and runs EV chargers and fleet charging depots for Jackson lots. Unusually, the city has more public fast-charging ports (43) than Level 2 ports (31), per the Department of Energy. Entergy Mississippi serves Jackson, operates its own public fast chargers and offers business rebates through Entergy eTech.

The chargers
What EV chargers does Wins install for Jackson parking lots?
Mostly Level 2, at 2.9 to 19.2 kW, where cars sit for hours, plus DC fast charging up to 500 kW for fleets and quick stops, using the Department of Energy's categories.
Jackson's public network leans toward fast charging, so the open need is Level 2 at the places people spend a workday or a night. Hospital staff lots near UMMC, state-office lots downtown, apartments in Fondren and Belhaven and campus parking all fit. Fast charging still makes sense for delivery and service fleets, and for a few retail sites along I-55 and I-20.
Each project covers design, permit, installation and operation, and charging appears on the same monthly statement as parking.
The depot
What does a robotaxi charging depot in Jackson need?
A depot needs fast chargers sized for each vehicle's daily distance, an Entergy Mississippi service plan, an off-street queue, cleaning and inspection bays, a passenger curb, gated entry and cameras. No operator had named Jackson for service as of Oct 13, 2026.
The closest robotaxi activity is in New Orleans, about 157 miles south, where Waymo announced service in November 2025. That is regional context only. No company has announced plans for Jackson, and Wins works with no robotaxi operator.
Owners who rebuild now can leave the option open by sizing electrical service for later fast chargers, laying out a queue that doesn't spill onto a busy street, and keeping a covered area for cleaning away from rider pickup. The autonomous vehicle parking page, our future-proof lot design guide and the EV and AV deployment guide go into each item.
The network
How many public EV charging ports does Jackson have?
31 Level 2 and 43 DC fast ports at 16 public stations with Jackson addresses, per Department of Energy data pulled Oct 13, 2026.
Sixteen stations is a short list for a state capital. Fast charging outnumbers Level 2, a sign that the network was built for travelers on the interstates more than for people who live and work here. Suburbs add a little: Flowood lists 19 Level 2 ports and Ridgeland 17.
The count changes monthly. Our EV charging ports database follows it from the same federal source.
The power
Which utility serves Jackson chargers, and what programs does it run?
Entergy Mississippi. It opened the first utility-owned fast chargers in the Entergy system, priced at $0.30 per kWh, and its customers can apply for Entergy eTech rebates on business chargers.
The eTech schedule is $250 per ENERGY STAR Level 2 port and $750 or $1,500 per fast port, depending on whether it is above 50 kW. Because Entergy already sells fast charging itself, a private fast-charging site in Jackson competes with the utility's price; Level 2 at workplaces and housing faces no such competition.
Entergy also checks whether the local transformer can carry new load. We ask early, since a needed upgrade can take longer than the electrical work.
The code
Which permits and codes apply to EV charging stations in Jackson?
An electrical permit from Jackson's Office of Code Services, a contractor holding an electrical classification from the State Board of Contractors, NEC Article 625 and the U.S. Access Board's guidance on accessible chargers.
Outside the C-4 district, removing required stalls for equipment can raise a zoning question. The city does not publish an electrical review time, so we schedule three to six weeks as our own estimate.
One charger per site is designed for wheelchair users first, with a flat approach, controls within a seated reach and room for a side lift.
The incentives
Which EV charging incentives are open in Mississippi?
Entergy eTech for Entergy Mississippi customers and MDOT's EV charging infrastructure program, restarted in August 2025, for corridor fast charging. The federal 30C credit cannot be claimed for charging property placed in service after June 30, 2026 (IRS, Instructions for Form 8911).
MDOT's program funds fast-charging sites on designated highway corridors, and I-55 and I-20 both cross Jackson. It does not cover ordinary workplace or apartment chargers. The IRS instructions leave new equipment outside 30C.
For a six-port Level 2 project, eTech would return $1,500. Most of the return comes from session fees and from tenants or employees who value charging where they park.
The budget
What does an EV charger installation cost in Jackson, and how long does it take?
Wins Parking's estimate for six Level 2 ports in Jackson is about $21,400 to $48,100 installed; two DC fast ports run about $89,000 to $267,000.
Jackson's price level, 89.0 on BEA's index, keeps labor below the national average. The usual cost drivers still apply: distance from the panel, panel capacity, and new Entergy service for fast chargers.
Our timeline estimate is 8–16 weeks for Level 2 on an existing panel and 26–52 weeks for fast charging on new service, using national per-port costs and AFDC's installation guidance scaled to the metro. Surface repairs fit the 7-month warm season.

A Wins Parking estimate, not a quote: Level 2 at $4,000–$9,000 installed per port (U.S. average), scaled by Jackson's BEA cost index of 89.0. Trenching distance, panel and transformer upgrades and utility lead time move it most. The federal 30C credit cannot be claimed for chargers placed in service after June 30, 2026.
The day to day
How are Jackson chargers run day to day?
On the platform that runs the parking. Wins prices charging, adds a fee when a full car stays plugged in, watches every port continuously, keeps gas cars out with plate cameras and shows charging and parking revenue on one statement.
At a hospital staff lot, overnight-shift workers can charge during their shift and day-shift staff take over the ports in the morning, with idle fees keeping the handoff moving. When a port goes offline, our desk gets the alert and restarts it or sends a technician.
This is our EV charging parking management service, which pairs with parking management in Jackson when we run the whole lot.
The neighbors
How does Jackson compare with nearby cities for EV charging?
Jackson's 43 fast ports lead central Mississippi; Hattiesburg, about 87 miles southeast, lists 19 and Vicksburg 14. Its 31 Level 2 ports are fewer than one might expect, per AFDC data pulled Oct 13, 2026.
Utility territories shift across the metro. Entergy Mississippi serves Jackson, while suburban addresses in Madison and Rankin counties can fall under other providers, so we confirm the utility before quoting any rebate.

Jackson EV and robotaxi charging: frequently asked questions
Wins Parking does. For apartment owners in Jackson we plan the circuits, get the city permit, install Level 2 ports, apply for Entergy eTech rebates and run the chargers day to day. We estimate a Level 2 port at $4,000–$9,000 installed at U.S. average prices.
Wins Parking plans and builds depot-ready lots with high-power charging, stacking lanes, cleaning bays, pickup zones and gated access. No robotaxi operator had announced Jackson service as of October 2026, and Wins has no robotaxi client in Mississippi.

Yes. Entergy Mississippi opened the first utility-owned fast chargers in the Entergy system, priced at $0.30 per kWh. Its business customers can also apply for Entergy eTech charger rebates.
MDOT restarted its EV charging infrastructure program in August 2025. It funds fast charging on designated highway corridors, not typical workplace or apartment lots.
Not for new chargers. The 30C credit cannot be claimed for charging property placed in service after June 30, 2026 (IRS, Instructions for Form 8911).
An electrical permit from the Office of Code Services, a contractor with an electrical classification from the State Board of Contractors, wiring to NEC Article 625 and an accessible stall that follows U.S. Access Board guidance.
By our estimate, 8–16 weeks for Level 2 on an existing panel and 26–52 weeks for DC fast charging that needs new utility service.
