The chargers
What EV chargers does Wins install for Overland Park parking lots?
Level 2 equipment between 2.9 and 19.2 kW, as the Department of Energy defines it, for long stays, and DC fast equipment up to 500 kW for short stops, adding 100 to 200+ miles in about 30 minutes.
Office parks on College Boulevard, apartments around Prairiefire and downtown Overland Park, hotels near the convention center and staff lots at the medical campuses all suit Level 2. The city's short supply is fast charging: retail centers on Metcalf Avenue and 135th Street, sites along I-435 and US-69, and service fleets are where we'd look.
We design, permit, build and operate, and charging income appears beside parking income in one report.
The depot
What does a robotaxi charging depot in Overland Park need?
High-power charging matched to fleet mileage, an Evergy capacity study, stacking lanes off the street, cleaning bays, a pickup curb, gated access and cameras. As of Oct 14, 2026, no operator had announced service in Overland Park or the Kansas City area.
The closest robotaxi activity we can cite is in Missouri: CNBC reported in December 2025 that Waymo had begun manual driving in St. Louis, about 240 miles east, and Missouri's driverless bill, HB 3365, did not pass in 2026. That is context only; Wins has no robotaxi work in Kansas.
Suburban office parks have something depots need: large lots near highways. An owner rebuilding today can reserve electrical room for fast chargers, a queue lane, a covered wash bay and a separate rider curb. Our autonomous vehicle parking, future-proof design and EV and AV deployment guides cover each part.
The network
How many public EV charging ports does Overland Park have?
304 Level 2 and 16 DC fast ports at 141 public stations with Overland Park addresses, per Department of Energy data pulled Oct 14, 2026.
Level 2 coverage is strong because office parks and hotels added ports early, but fast charging trails cities a fraction of the size. Lenexa adds 101 Level 2 ports and Olathe 79, and both list a dozen or more fast ports.
Our EV charging ports database tracks Overland Park each month from the same source.
The power
Which utility serves Overland Park chargers, and what rebates does it pay?
Evergy serves Overland Park. Its Kansas business rebates run up to $25,000 for workplace charging and up to $25,000 for multifamily (each up to ten Level 2 ports), up to $55,000 for public charging and up to $65,000 for fleets.
An office park adding ten workplace ports or an apartment community adding ten resident ports can offset much of the hardware cost. Public fast charging, the city's gap, has its own larger rebate. We apply before we order equipment, because the program sets what qualifies. Evergy's Business EV rate favors charging outside 4 to 8 p.m.
Evergy also checks the transformer and service. We start that request on day one.
The code
Which permits and codes apply to EV charging stations in Overland Park?
An electrical permit from Permits, Licenses and Inspections, a contractor the city has licensed (Kansas has no state license), wiring to NEC Article 625 and an accessible stall per the U.S. Access Board's guidance.
Converting stalls to charging can push a site below its minimum, while the maximums limit adding new stalls to make up the difference, so we check §18.430 before drawing. A transformer pad may need plan review. The city posts no review target; we estimate three to six weeks.
We place the accessible stall first, with a level route, reachable controls and room for a ramp.
The incentives
What EV incentives can an Overland Park property use?
Evergy's rebates and KDOT's Charge Up Kansas NEVI program for highway fast charging. The federal 30C credit cannot be claimed for charging property placed in service after June 30, 2026 (IRS, Instructions for Form 8911).
NEVI money goes to corridor sites that meet federal spacing and power rules; KDOT's second round funded nine stations in October 2024, and round three proposals were requested in July 2026. The IRS instructions close 30C for new chargers.
In practice, Evergy's rebate is the incentive that matters for an Overland Park office or apartment owner.
The budget
What does an EV charger installation cost in Overland Park, and how long does it take?
Ten Level 2 ports run about $37,000 to $83,300 installed in Overland Park and two DC fast ports about $93,000 to $278,000, by Wins Parking's estimate before rebates.
Ten ports matches the limit of Evergy's workplace and multifamily rebates. Garage installs cost more for conduit through decks; surface lots spend it on trenching. A fast charger usually needs a new Evergy service.
We plan 8–16 weeks for Level 2 on an existing panel and 26–52 weeks for fast charging on new service. Costs scale national per-port figures and AFDC's installation guidance by the metro's BEA index of 92.5. Lot work fits the 5-month warm season.

A Wins Parking estimate, not a quote: Level 2 at $4,000–$9,000 installed per port (U.S. average), scaled by Overland Park's BEA cost index of 92.5. Trenching distance, panel and transformer upgrades and utility lead time move it most. The federal 30C credit cannot be claimed for chargers placed in service after June 30, 2026.
The day to day
How are Overland Park chargers run day to day?
Through our parking software: Wins prices sessions, charges idle fees after a grace period, monitors every port around the clock, cites gas cars in EV stalls and reports charging with parking.
In an office park, employees can reserve a port for the morning and move the car at lunch so a coworker can charge; idle fees enforce the swap. Faults page our operations desk for a remote reset or a technician. Monthly reports cover energy, uptime, income and citations.

The neighbors
How does Overland Park compare with nearby cities for EV charging?
Overland Park's 304 Level 2 ports lead Kansas, but Kansas City, Missouri, 15 miles north, lists 867, and Lawrence, 30 miles west, has no fast ports at all, per AFDC data pulled Oct 14, 2026.
Evergy serves most of the comparison cities on both sides of the state line. Kansas City, Kansas, is the exception, served by its Board of Public Utilities, so rebates and rates differ there.

FAQ
Overland Park EV and robotaxi charging: frequently asked questions
Wins Parking does. We design, permit, install and run Level 2 chargers for Overland Park apartment communities and apply for Evergy's multifamily rebate of up to $25,000. We estimate a Level 2 port at $4,000–$9,000 installed at U.S. average prices.
Wins Parking plans and builds depot-ready lots with high-power charging, stacking lanes, cleaning bays, pickup zones and gated access. No robotaxi operator had announced Overland Park service as of October 2026, and Wins has no robotaxi client in Kansas.
304 Level 2 and 16 DC fast ports at 141 public stations, per Department of Energy data pulled Oct 14, 2026.
Yes. Evergy's workplace rebate reaches up to $25,000 for up to ten Level 2 ports, with separate rebates for multifamily, public and fleet charging.
Rarely. KDOT's Charge Up Kansas NEVI program funds fast charging on highway corridors, not typical office or apartment lots.
Not for new chargers. The 30C credit cannot be claimed for charging property placed in service after June 30, 2026 (IRS, Instructions for Form 8911).
An electrical permit from Permits, Licenses and Inspections, a city-licensed electrical contractor, NEC Article 625 wiring and an accessible stall following U.S. Access Board guidance.
By our estimate, 8–16 weeks for Level 2 on an existing panel and 26–52 weeks for DC fast charging that needs new utility service.
